Dave Collins, principal consultant and president of Outback Software, has over 30 years of experience in computer systems. Prior to founding Outback, he was a development programmer for IBM Research, an educator for IBM in object technologies, and a systems engineer and architect. He's worked with Java, Mathematica, Smalltalk, SQL, HTML, XML, and a variety of other languages, on platforms ranging from Windows NT to Linux to IBM mainframes. He's an experienced communicator as well as a technologist, and the author of Designing Object-Oriented User Interfaces.

Outback is a one-man consultancy run by Dave Collins. My development approach is based on functionality and on important quality attributes such as usability, performance, security, reliability, and maintainability. These can be defined in measurable terms and factored into system architectures. Successful projects incorporate quality objectives as a fundamental part of the system design.
